Antagonism remarks in Young PAP's website
I was deeply appalled and sickened when I came upon a Young PAP website recently. I was interested in knowing more about the party but left the website in bad taste.
In view of the recent public outcry of racist remarks being made be Singaporeans, the last place I would want to witness promoting hostility and antagonism among races and religions in Singapore is in a website of a political party that has very much represented Singapore, PAP. I was hoping for a discussion forum filled with mature thoughts and deep insights and ideas that the Yong PAP members can actually share. For the least, I want to have a look into the minds of the people that will eventually run for elections, representing a major political party. But I was in for a real shocker.
The articles being posted in the Young PAP’s discussion forum are extremely distasteful and shockingly criticized the cults of the religion Islam by downplaying the holy hajj rites as people “running in circle for nothing” and call out for the blasting of the “big, black stone in Mecca”. These remarks, showing a blatant disrespect to a religion which has been sadly and falsely represented by terrorism, are extremely ludicrous. It is extremely distressing as remarks like these, especially from Singapore’s future leaders, will only pull the tension between the races and religions in Singapore further. Is there anyone monitoring the articles being posted in the forum, especially as it belongs to a breeding ground for Singapore’s future political leaders? I hope that Singaporeans will not start to divide and segregate themselves due to cultural and religion difference. The Singapore Government has work so hard to achieve racial harmony in this country. Let’s not nullify their wonderful efforts by making immature and silly remarks.
*If i am going to be sued for this article, let it be. I am deeply upset and disappointed.
